In the year 2012 we saw lots of algorithmic changes done by Google by the name of Penguin and Panda updates. Almost after every one or two weeks there was a major or minor algorithmic update tweak done by the giant search engine.
Many people said that 2012 for a very difficult year for the search engine optimization professionals, however it’s not true. Algorithmic changes are never bad for white hat SEOs but all who get effected mostly from the changes and spammers or people who just don’t know what SEO is all about. If you optimize your website to humans and provide quality stuff over your site for the visitors your website will automatically find its way to top of search engine rankings. This is all SEO is all about make your site search engine compliance and post quality stuff for your website visitors.
Now let’s talk about algorithmic changes in 2013: I guess there won't be major algorithmic changes by Google in the year 2013 but definitely focus would be to provide results from sites that are fast, popular over social networks, share by a large group. Overall SEO and SMO will have to complement each other. I predict there will be very less chances of cookie clutter pages ranking in first page of Google like what we have observed in the past.
